US President Donald Trump claimed on September 2nd that the United States has a significant lead over China in artificial intelligence (AI), and touted what he called an unprecedented influx of investment into the US. He also expressed his excitement about Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit later this month.
According to the South China Morning Post, Trump, speaking in the Oval Office, said, “AI is developing rapidly, and we are far ahead of China in AI. By the way, the Chinese President is coming on the 24th, which is very exciting. I am very much looking forward to receiving him. We have a lot of good things to talk about, and a lot of very, very constructive things to discuss with President Xi.”
